It’s no wonder why Self-Portait is one of the most coveted new labels, and definitely one of my favorites. The pieces are decidedly feminine, but designed with a touch of masculine darkness. Romantic, embroidered lace dresses combined with bold sheer panels are classically recognizable designs of this unique collection.

The London-based clothing brand was launched in 2013 by Central Saint Martins alumnus Han Chong. The Malaysian native desired to create a contemporary line of beautiful day dress, delicate cocktail frocks, eye-catching jackets, and sartorial separates worthy of the red carpet. He inspired to create collections that are special and luxuriously executed, yet accessible.

The brand’s fresh, feminine dresses and jumpsuits are perfect for wedding receptions, parties and events. As soon as I put on one of these dresses, I instantly feel beautiful and stylish. And I really LOVE that most of his pieces are petite-friendly! I am able to wear size 0 dresses that hug my narrower shoulders and fit my smaller torso snugly without any need for alterations. Mini- and midi-length dresses run a bit longer, of course, on my 4’11” frame.
