As I’ve gotten older, I’ve incorporated more and more skirts into my wardrobe. That’s because jeans and pants aren’t always the most flattering for petites as they can draw attention to shorter legs. Skirts, on the other hand, depending on their length, cut, and style, of course, can give the illusion of added height, especially if worn with a pair of heels. The truth is, skirts look great on all body types, whether petite, tall, or plus size. Specifically, A-line skirts can help hide our hips and thighs. Plus, skirts are so feminine and fun to wear. A cute skirt always catches everyone’s eyes.

Last weekend, my local Bloomingdales was having a fantastic sale, and I scored this cute Maje Bonded Lace skirt for 50% off. It is crafted with a beautiful fine lace that is bonded to a basket knit. The texture and feel of this skirt is truly unique. It has a high banded waist to cinch your tummy, cute box pleats, and a full silhouette. Plus, it has two slit pockets on the sides. Bonus for pockets! It is so chic and modern, and can be worn for day and night alike!

Maje 'Jour' Bonded Lace Skirt, Asian mom, fashion tips
It can be paired with a simple tank top for a casual day look, or a long-sleeved lace or solid bodysuit for an evening out. Given the fullness of the skirt, I would stay away from big blouses or heavy knits, and stick with slimmer tops. You can keep the color palette black or white, or be daring and go with a blush, yellow, or other color top. Maybe you want to keep the top black or white, but add a pop of color with your shoes. Be creative. Add a little jewelry to finish the look.

Maje is a French line, and like most line French designers, their clothing is petite-friendly! They are having a great sale online right now, up to 50% off.

Don’t miss out! Most sizes are still available but are selling out quickly. You can find the skirt here.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
