Khloe Kardashian says that one of her favorite go-to outfits is a bodysuit paired with high-waist jeans and cute heels. Petite, tall, and curvy women alike can pull off this chic look. As with any outfit, it’s all about finding the right pieces for your body type.
There are three reasons why you should own a bodysuit: 1) no more re-adjusting 2) perfect piece for layering 3) can tighten and flatter your shape.
Bodysuits are designed to hug your body, so the fabric stays straight and polished all day. No more worrying about tank top and cami straps falling off the shoulders, midriff bunching and wrinkling, or having to tuck your shirt in or out. This makes bodysuits a convenient piece that can be worn all day and transition from day into night.
They are also great for layering because they are a slimming piece that fits snug against your body. Remember the cardinal rule of layering: keep the layers thin to avoid a bulky, shapeless look. Layer with a chic blazer or a stylish kimono on top. During colder months, add a scarf and leggings underneath a skirt for a great layered look.
Lastly, finding the right bodysuit with good stretchy fabric can slim, tighten, and flatter your figure. It’s all about finding the right one. For petites, consider a plunging V-neck to elongate the neckline. For large-breasted women, boat necks are a great choice. Curvy women may like wrapped ones. There are so many cute styles to choose from: long sleeve, short sleeve, key-hole neck, asymmetric neckline, and backless.
I chose this TopShop Ruffle-Trim, Cold-Shoulder Bodysuit because it is very flattering for petites. As the reviews on TopShop.com say, this bodysuit is designed for petite women with its shorter torso length, and so it may not fit taller women as well. I also like the V-neck line which helps elongate my neck, especially since I have a round face. The spaghetti straps and cold-shoulder design give the bodysuit instant style. Lastly, the fluttery ruffles are the prettiest detail that adds femininity. The blue is a gorgeous color too.
I am wearing TopShop Moto Jamie High-Rise Jeans. I’m so glad high-rise jeans are in style. A decade ago, it was all about low-rise jeans. I don’t care for low rise because there’s always a concern for showing a little booty when you bend or sit, and of course, it causes the dreaded ‘muffin top.’ High-rise jeans can help hold in and hide the pouch.
These jeans are soft on the skin and comfortable, yet hold their shape and do not stretch and lose elasticity at the waistline. They are also petite-friendly! No hemming needed as they hit high on the ankles with a 28” inseam. The ripped knees add casual coolness. They’re a great pair of jeans for under $100.
I kept the look monochromatic with navy heels and handbag. The navy blue lace heels with bow detail that I’m wearing is from Dune London and are no longer available.
